Introducing ourselves:
Shields Stamps & Coins opened our first
shop in 1979. Over the years our business has expanded greatly
thanks to our thousands of happy customers from all over the world.
Our business is stamps, coins and banknotes but
we also deal in postcards, medals, Olympic and sports
memorabilia and other collectibles. We are serious buyers of anything worthwhile in these areas.
Our reputation is important to us. We are
members of Australasian Philatelic Traders Association since 1980,
Philatelic Traders Society London since 1981 and founder members of
Australian Numismatic Dealers Association in 1992. For 20 years we
have been accredited dealer representatives of the Royal Australian
Mint and now the Perth Mint. We have served on numerous advisory
committees and organizations for stamps and coins and in 1987 Tony
Shields was the youngest ever president of The Australasian Stamp
Dealers Association.
We attend major stamp shows throughout the
world – particularly London, Germany (Köln, Essen) Tokyo, Hong
Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.
We have excellent worldwide stamp stock. Tell us what you collect
– we may have it or be able to get it for you.
Tony Shields and his wife Christine opened the
business in March 1979 and a year later Gary Shields (brother)
joined the firm. Since then Ben Choong, has joined and the 3 men have 120 years of stamp
experience between them!
Most of our business is mail order and export
but we also have one of Australia's largest and best-stocked stamp and
coin shops. Do come and see us. Our shop is located in the beautiful
Melbourne suburb of Heidelberg, just 300 metres from the Heidelberg Railway Sation (which is within Zone One, just 20 minutes from the city centre) and only 25 minutes from the airport (via the Ring Road or Bell Street). The picturesque Yarra River is nearby and the whole area was once home to famous Australian artists of the Heidelberg School such as Fred McCubbin, Tom Roberts and Walter Withers.
You can often hear us on Melbourne Radio 3AW (the Keith McGowan Antiques and Collectibles show, Fridays from midnight to 2 am).
Please ensure you give us your address, phone,
email and fax numbers so we can serve you better.
Happy Collecting!
Tony Shields.
