DO YOU REMEMBER?

Do you remember, on 28 December
When all of us put to sea
We are off to the ice for the trip of our life
All of you plus my daughter and me

The penguins it seems were all in our dreams
Along with whales and seals and orcas
As we left from Ushuaia, the excitement got higher
That night we learnt who were snorers

To the Antarctic we go, to the ice and the snow
We come from many nations
As we slide through the Beagle and into the Drake
Everyone's ready for action stations

There's a whale come quick – no I'm feeling sick
My dinner I don't want to eat
For sheer living hell it's easy to tell
Seasickness is hard to beat

We had lots of sun and plenty of fun
The weather was too good to be true
But out in the wind in a T-Shirt and shorts
It didn't take me long to turn blue

Binoculars, videos, cameras and wine, ensured those on
Top deck had an excellent time
Spotting whales, penguins, seals, eating krill for their meals
I hope all of the shorts turn out fine  

New Year was a riot – it never got quiet
A couple of sailors showed flair
As we partied all night, it was always daylight
Some of us struggled to get up the stairs

Phil and girls were just great – we ate and we ate
Excellent feed that was never ending
But what's in Mikes bottle you might want to know
It always seems very mind bending  

Zodiacs, glaciers, icecaps, different whales and chinstrap
Were what we all came to see
And to stand in a queue for a postmark or two
Was an added amusement to me.

Gabriele, Natascha, Monika, Martin and Sascha,
And all the Crew
Have become our friends
They've done a great job, 3 cheers for that mob
What a pity this trip has to end.

Chinstrap, Adelie, Emperor, Gentoo?
I can't tell them apart, can you?
It's black and it's white it's a penguin alright
They're out there swimming every day and night.

Polar Exploring, large seals snoring
On bergy bits floating at sea
And penguins galore, lectures, saunas and more
There are many great memories for me.
